We are a community based organization dedicated to building community and strengthening family through youth enrichment.​

We are currently looking to fill a few seats on our Board of Directors for terms of two years.​

The Board of Directors

The CYC Board of Directors provides strategic direction and assistance to the organization to successfully achieve its mission, goals and objectives.​

CYC board members are committing to giving their time, talents and financial support.

Ideal candidates

The ideal candidate will have the capacity to meet monthly, and depending on need be willing to commit 5-10 hours per month.  We are looking for individuals who are passionate about making an impact in our region and eager to help grow our organization’s capacity and ability to serve youth and families. Our board is a working board.​

Specialized skills

Such as law, HR and personnel, fundraising, marketing/pr, and adult education would serve to strengthen the capacity of our board.

  • Recruit and select employees when necessary.

  • Provide financial oversight of CYC’s budget to ensure continued fiscal responsibility and monitor financial growth and development consistent with established goals and objectives.

  • Ensure legal and ethical integrity and maintain accountability.

  • Ensure effective organizational planning.

  • Recruit and orient new Board members and assess Board performance;

  • Enhance the organization’s public standing.

  • Support and monitor the Executive Director and his/her performance according to set objectives.

  • Since discussions may involve confidential or sensitive issues, Board members sign a Confidentiality Agreement.

  • Board members are expected to attend most, if not all, major CYC events (as outlined in the Bylaws).

Selection Process

Our guidelines for selecting the new director include:

  • A passion for and a belief in the CYC mission, and vision

  • Willingness to learn about how the CYC board works, such as willingness to go to workshops, interest in learning about Policy Governance procedures, interest in the growth of programming and participants we serve.
